Requirements to be a Member:
All new applicants for membership to the Wallace District Fire Department shall apply by completing an application form and conforming to the following:
Must be 18 years of age
Be willing to attend training, seminars and regional fire schools.
Must hold a current valid Manitoba Driver’s license class 5. Must obtain a valid class 4 license with air endorsement in the first 12 months with the fire department.
Must hold current certification in first aid/CPR level C.
May be subject to a criminal record check and child abuse registry check.
Must reside or work within the Town of Virden, RM of Wallace-Woodworth or LUD of Elkhorn and be able to effectively respond to emergencies in a reasonable time frame. Decision to accept will be made by the station Chiefs.
The Fire Chief and Executive Station Officers of their respective station will review each application. If the applicant is approved, they will be placed on a 6-month probation period. In this probation period their attendance will be recorded and their involvement in all fire department functions will be assessed. If the applicant shows good involvement and attendance during the probation period, they will be accepted as a member of the Wallace District Fire Department.
